MAZATLAN. – Mazatlán would be receiving up to six cruise ships in a single day with the remodeling of the port, which will have an exclusive area for large-capacity tourist boats, increasing the activity of this tourist segment, reported Juan José Ruiz González.
The director of Special Projects of the Ministry of Tourism mentioned that, for now, three new accesses are being built, the docks are being remodeled and a new cruise terminal is planned to be built, he specified.
“The port of Mazatlan is a strategic place to receive cruise ships on the Pacific coast, we will soon have a new terminal that will be able to receive up to six cruise ships , currently we receive three,” he declared.
Can you imagine? If the panorama with the arrival of three cruise ships in one day is seen as few postcards in beach destinations; with six, Mazatlan, the famous “Pearl of the Pacific”, would be rising in level, especially among shipping companies.
Ruiz González pointed out that Mazatlán is one of the most attractive ports for the arrival of these large ships in the entire Mexican Pacific, achieving negotiations, year after year, with companies such as Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Princess, Holland America, and Norwegian Cruises Line.
“There is great interest in making Mazatlán a pole of attraction for the cruise market and soon we will be giving very good news in this regard because we want to invite the entire industry and executives to get to know all the attractions, not only of Mazatlán, but from the south of Sinaloa and Magical Towns”, he commented.
The state official added that shipping tourism favors the economic development of the destination regions, where the objective is that the benefit of the cruise industry reaches all the inhabitants of southern Sinaloa.
The director of Special Projects informed us that it is also expected to receive Disney Cruises and soon the MSC cruise, for the strongest season of this tourist segment.
