It will be on April 29 and 30, as well as May 1 and 2, where the greatest amount of flora and fauna can be recorded in Mazatlan

MAZATLAN. – The City Nature Challenge returns to Mazatlan to capture most of the flora and fauna that still lives in our port, which will be divided into 4 days, from April 29 and 30, until May 1 and 2.

It is a, as its name says, challenge or dare, go out to the streets and capture the largest number of photographs of all the biodiversity that exists in our environment, in the case of Mazatlan, it would be its beaches, parks, hills, the Lighthouse, as well as its lagoons.

How to take part?

It is very simple and here we share the steps or instructions to follow to be part of the community.

1. Be part of the Naturalista community and register at www.naturalista.mx

2. During April 29 and 30, as well as May 1 and 2 (Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday) go out to the streets, paths, and paths of the municipality to look for and photograph wildlife

3. Share all the captured images on the Naturalista website (www.naturalista.mx).

You have until May 8 to do so, in previous years “the Pearl of the Pacific” has led this list with the largest number of species, both flora, and fauna, so your commitment will help ensure that leadership is not lost.

In Mazatlan, in 2021, approximately 15,441 observations were recorded, registering 714 species, detected by 103 observers and 714 identifiers. Of the reported species, the majority concentrated on insects, followed by plants, mammals, molluscs, reptiles, arachnids, and others.

In 2020, Mazatlán was the venue for the challenge, allowing tourists and expats to coexist in natural spaces and achieve the identification of species.
