Governor Ordaz Coppel and Mayor Benítez Torres, inaugurate roof of the Olympic pool

Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- The state governor, Quirino Ordaz Coppel; the mayor of MazatlánLuis Guillermo Benítez Torres; the director of the Municipal Sports Institute, Jorge Palomino, and the director of the Sinaloan Sports and Cultural Institute, inaugurated the roof of the Olympic Pool, located in the Sahop Sports Unit.

Also present was Rafael Garcia, manager of the pool, who said that the roof and the adequacy of trampolines in Mazatlan will create the first school of diving around Sinaloa .

“With the adaptation of the springboards, the first diving school in all of Sinaloa will be created, it is a great scope (…) For the aquatic community it is a pleasure to receive this work, a work that was extremely necessary, we had worked hard full only 600, 700 children, now it already had 1,200 and we want many more, that pool has a capacity of 1,500 young swimmers, “he said.

In his message, Ordaz Coppel mentioned that 30 million pesos were invested in this project; Now, children, young people, and adults could go to practice sports all day, with this new possibility, he did not rule out that in the future the next national and world champions of swimming and diving will come from there.

“Now they can come to train all day, of course, after school, but moms and dads can come during the day, not before because of the sun. Enjoy it, enjoy it and above all, take care of it,” he mentioned.

It was in 2015 when the construction work of the Municipal Olympic Pool began and in 2016 it was the official opening. The investment was 34 million pesos.

In 2019, work began on the roof of the sports complex, which measures 5 thousand square meters of the thermal membrane. The investment was 28 million 637 thousand pesos.
