The LGBT economy does not only surpass that of Mexico: it is also above that of countries such as the United Kingdom, France, Italy or Canada.
The historical struggle for sexual diversity has gained political, social and economic support from the Stonewall riots of June 28, 1969 to the present. With the freedoms obtained in the last 50 years, the opening of markets for the LGBTTTIQA community has been one of the victories of this process.
The members of this community contribute to the economy with billions of dollars each year, according to a report by LGBT Capital , a company specialized in advising companies that want to venture into this sector.
The report, based on government information and private companies, indicates that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the LGBT + community, based on its purchasing power, was 3.6 billion dollars in 2018.
LGBT Capital adds that the number of people in this community in that year amounted to 496 million worldwide.
The GDP in 2018 of the LGBT + community is almost three times that of Mexico, according to data from the World Bank . Mexico had a GDP of 1.2 billion dollars in 2018.
The LGBT + economy does not only surpass that of Mexico. If it were a country, it would be the fifth largest in the world. According to the most recent information from the World Bank, this would be the first five places in GDP:

-China: 13.6 billion dollars.
-Japan: 4.9 billion dollars.
-Germany: 3.9 trillion dollars.
– LGBT + community: 3.6 billion dollars.
At the national level, the purchasing power of the LGBT community in Mexico is equivalent to a GDP of 60 billion dollars, with a population of 8.1 million people.
At present, the industries that most participate in the LGBT + market are tourism, art, fashion, alcoholic beverages, and culture, which have not only been pioneers in directing their efforts towards this target but have also managed to create new ones for them. products and needs: sell them a lifestyle, according to a statement from the financial services firm Creze.
