Mazatlan Carnival 2019 will be called Equinox

The preparations for the Carnival Mazatlan 2019 are underway, under the new leadership of Óscar Blancarte, New director of the Municipal Institute of Culture, Tourism, and Art.

“We are organizing the new allegorical cars and the whole event that is going to be called Equinoccio,  they will be designed by the sisters of Rigoberto Lewis, Jorge Osuna, and Ocean RoRodríguez will collaborate with us, who is Mazatleco, but is based in Mexico, “he revealed.

The Mazatlan Carnival will take place from February 28 to March 5, 2019. It is an impressive celebration, with more than a century of history, which is full of parades, fireworks, and live music. The big party is on the street: in the picturesque Malecon facing the sea and in the historical Center of the city.


It is one of the most famous festivals in the world and an unforgettable experience. Allegorical cars, music, and queens will parade again through the streets of Mazatlan. Several candidates will compete in this carnival crown. One of the most important moments is the coronation of the Carnival Queen (March 2, 2019) and the two Magical Parades (March 3 and 5, 2019).


Thousands of people will accompany the theme cars with pyrotechnic fires and music. This is the first documented carnival in Mexico and an event in the beautiful port of Sinaloa. The Mazatlan Carnival officially began in 1898, just a week before Lent. Today it is considered the third largest carnival in the world by Forbes Magazine.
