Mayor of Mazatlán denies rumors on social networks about attempts to kidnap children

The mayor of Mazatlán, Edgar González Zatarain, denies rumors that circulate on social networks about the attempts to kidnap children, he said that they are only rumors, since there is no complaint about it, however, police surveillance was strengthened around the basic education schools.

He commented that this type of messages, started on social networks in the north and center of the state last week, without parents officially going to file complaints for alleged kidnappings of infants.

The mayor indicated that even when these versions that are spread are false, parents must remain attentive about where their underage children are and report any suspicious attitude they have.

He also asked the citizens not to replicate this type of messages without first having the certainty of their authenticity, since this generates concern among the families and distracts the function of the security corporations.

González Zatarain expressed that the patrols will be reinforced in the popular neighborhoods, in rural communities and in areas close to the basic education schools, to give confidence to the families and prevent any problem from arising.

There are no complaints about alleged kidnappings of children

On March 1, the head of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Forced Disappearances of Persons, José Luis Leyva Rochín, announced that there are no complaints about alleged kidnappings of children in Sinaloa, as has been disseminated on social networks.

He commented that audios and videos circulate on the networks, not only in the capital of the state, but in almost all the municipalities, about alleged kidnappings of minors, which has generated a series of rumors, without having any support for the facts.

He clarified that the judicial authority does not have any complaint that is related to these versions that have spread, in terms of deprivation or attempted deprivation of the freedom of any child or adolescent.

Leyva Rochín urged the population that in case of suffering any type of crime related to the deprivation of the freedom of any relative, they should go to the public ministry agency closest to their home and file the respective complaint.
