The venue was considered a palace, which lived its best years in the 80s and 90s.

The Frankie Oh, almost 40 years ago, was one of the most famous nightclubs in Mexico because it was very luxurious and had exotic animals inside, which attracted the attention of various entertainment personalities who, when they were in Mazatlán, was MUST stop.

Located in the port of Sinaloa, this became one of the most eccentric establishments in the country, surpassing bars in Mexico City and Guadalajara, which is why ‘Los Pata Salada’ continues to remember it with great affection and even has a group on the social network Facebook where they share their memories.

The dark thing about this compound was that it belonged to the then most dangerous drug traffickers in Mexico, the Arellano Félix brothers, who during that time had an alliance with the Sinaloa Cartel and had not yet moved to Tijuana, where they created their cartel.

One of the most remembered experiences is that it could be reached through a spiral-shaped wooden staircase that went from the large main lobby to some of its rooms.

According to statements by Francisco Arellano Félix, its owner, the property had a value of approximately five million dollars and artists such as Luis Miguel and Emmanuel, who at that time were in full swing, were present.

The Frankie Oh had a desolate end, after being classified as the most luxurious nightclub in the country because the authorities seized the property and for almost two decades it was abandoned, which turned it into the home of homeless people, as well as the presence of rodents. As time went by, it was vandalized and the few valuable things that remained were stolen.

Finally in 2017, by orders of the Mazatlán City Council, the site was demolished, leaving only the memory of those moments in which the most famous people in the country met to spend a pleasant moment during the night.

Julio César Chávez came to fight there

The nightclub was so important that ‘La Leyenda’ had two fights inside it, which were carried out using chloroform, the first was against Rafael Limón in 1988, when he was 26 years old, and the other with Jaime Balboa. in 1990.

It is worth mentioning that both rivals had more than 10 defeats in their history, so it ended without any problem causing the euphoria of those present who gathered to see the world champion who was at the height of his career.
