The El Crestón plant was built in 1983 and began operations in 1984, later it was expanded with an emitter of 17 meters and 800 meters, thus complying with the official standard 001 of Semarnat; Due to its location, it suffered from the inclemency of the sea and required reengineering in 1994, in which 227 million pesos were invested.

On June 30 of this year, the gradual dismantling of the El Crestón wastewater treatment plant began, after 38 years of operating in Mazatlán.
