MAZATLÁN.- Prior to the start of the parade of the International Carnival of Mazatlán, Mayor Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres pointed out that this year’s edition is historic since yesterday around 220 thousand people came to Avenida del Mar to witness the naval combat and 70 thousand in Olas Altas, to witness the burning of bad humor, which had never happened in 224 years of the town’s festival.

He said that to this is added the visit of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to Mazatlán on Carnival dates, which sends a message to the nation and abroad that there is a sanitary order in this destination.

“Each one of us has to be responsible, the protocols have been working perfectly well, we are pioneers worldwide of protocols in large groups of people,” he said.

He said that people are very happy with the events of the town festival and that so far he has not received any negative comments.

Regarding the economy, he said that both merchants and businessmen, for the most part, are doing very well, since the economic spill is very large at this time.

“Most are doing very well, because the economic impact is very large and today we have more than ever in history and you can see it anywhere and if you add to that because it is historic and unprecedented, a president of the Republic on Carnival dates we make history”, he pointed out.

Benítez Torres emphasized the importance of the Carnival as the main festival of the town that is passed down from generation to generation.

“Since I was a child I remember the Carnival, I shared and lived together, they were other times. All year round we gathered eggs to make the shells ourselves, and that is passed from generation to generation, which is the carnival tradition, ”he indicated.

He said that although the health protocols are working well and perfectly, each person has to be responsible for abiding by the recommended measures.

“Each one of us has to be responsible, the protocols have been working perfectly well, we are pioneers worldwide of protocols in large groups of people,” he concluded.

Benítez Torres led the great parade of the International Carnival, in the company of different municipal authorities, starting from the Casa del Marino. As soon as he left, the Municipal President greeted people and took a photo with those present.
