This musically speaking recreational center would be installed where part of what was the El Crestón sewage treatment plant still stands, at the foot of the hill with the same name.

Mazatlán, Sinaloa. – The recreational center, the Plaza de la Banda is a project of the municipal president, Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres, which aims to resemble the Plaza Garibaldi in Mexico City, where all the Mariachi groups sing their sounds to the delight of the visitors to that tourist spot.

Something similar is intended in the port of Mazatlán, the birthplace of great bands of international renown, such as Banda el Recodo, as well as the granary of great musicians and talented composers, such as Julio Preciado, Pancho Barraza, among others no less important.

According to Mayor Benítez Torres, musically speaking, this recreational center would be installed where part of what was the El Crestón sewage treatment plant still stands, at the foot of the hill with the same name.

In reference to this purpose, the municipality has commented that once the water treatment plant stops working in its entirety, the project would begin to crystallize, which would be for the month of January of next 2022.

“It will conclude its dismantling at the end of the year, because we are committed to starting the year with the Plaza de la Banda (project),” he commented.

Undoubtedly this project has raised many expectations among Mazatlecos, but all, uncertainty on the part of those who dedicate themselves to playing an instrument, because it is believed that once the Plaza de la Banda was opened, they would withdraw the musicians who daily visit part of the tourist area in search of those who like to listen to the so-called wind music.
