Restaurant owners will increase between 15 and 20% the price of the dishes

Culiacán, Sinaloa.- Culiacán’s restaurant sector can no longer bear the “blow” in the disproportionate increases in the costs of gas, electricity, and inputs to prepare food, so as of this month it will increase from 15 to 20 percent of the prices in the letter to their customers, announced Miguel Taniyama Ceballos, president of the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry  (Canirac).

“Totally, an adjustment of 15 to 20 percent is coming, but that is unfortunate because we are in an economic reactivation where purchasing power is losing, inflation is increasing, and the increase in salary is a palliative that does not come absolutely to solve anything, the truth is that we have to do it now because the issue is profitability, “he said.

The restaurant leader questioned the 22 percent salary increase that will take effect from next January, which does not improve the purchasing power of workers and affects the economy in general, and gave as an example that in a restaurant the customer eats But he does not ask for dessert and in exchange for consuming a soft drink, he is satisfied with a glass of water as a gift.

He recalled that since the COVID-19 pandemic began, in February 2020, members of the union sacrificed themselves for consumers and did not increase prices on dishes, but inflation has already reached them, which is almost 7 percent.

Finally, he complained that they will not close the year 2021 as expected at 70 percent in sales, and part with very little profitability in profits.
