CDMX, Mérida, and Mazatlán will be offered as a tourist circuit to Europeans

Municipal authorities bet on tourist circuits

The twinning of Mazatlán with Mexico City and Mérida Yucatán will be a fundamental part of the work plan that will take place at the 2022 International Tourism Fair (FITUR) to be held in Madrid, as reported by the Secretary of Economic Development, Tourism and Municipal Fisheries, Ricardo Velarde Cardenas.

He recognized that attending this type of event where the most important countries in the tourism industry are presented is difficult and more because European tourism is difficult to conquer; the reason why a strategy of “tourist circuits” is being considered.

“We know that it is very difficult as a single destination to bring a European market, but if we generate circuits and work hand in hand with different cities we can achieve great things.”

He pointed out that the circuit that is planned is with the sister cities of Mexico City and Mérida Yucatán. What is sought is to sell a package that includes those destinations and Mazatlán so that European tourism and those from other parts of the world can visit our port without a problem.

The circuits within our municipality are also considered, according to Velarde Cardenaz, rural tourist circuits such as Habal-La Noria or El Quelite have become very popular in recent years.

“We want that of Come to Mexico, the city of Merida and Mazatlán with completely different attractions that you can come to know the variety of Mexico in sun and beach, in culture and gastronomy in a complete 15-day trip,” he said.

Congresses and conventions will return

In 2022 and if the conditions of the pandemic allow it, congress and convention tourism will return to Mazatlán with more force. For the Secretary of Economic Development, Tourism and Fisheries, this tourism is one of the most important sources of income for the port, due to their high purchasing power.

“It is one of the things that we are coordinating, there are many requests and many chambers that are requesting to specialize in this market,” he concluded.
