Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- Restaurants in Mazatlán have been reactivated in recent days with the arrival of foreign tourism from the United States and Canada, as well as the strongest stage of cruises in this destination.
The president of the National Chamber of the Restaurant Industry of Mazatlán, Rodrigo Becerra Rodríguez said that, despite the pandemic, the establishments are with their full workforce.
He indicated that Mazatlán left behind the times when high seasons ended and they laid off staff, now it is so difficult to get and train them, although they face a very bad streak they do not let go of their team.
“They are not letting anyone go, not many people hire casuals, almost all restaurants in Mazatlán use a full-year payroll,” he said.
Becerra Rodríguez indicated that, with the opening of new restaurants in Mazatlán, it is difficult to find staff to work.
“Now we are struggling to find staff to work, there are more restaurants and we have fewer staff, especially in busy seasons,” he said.
He added that the arrival of cruise ships and flights to the port of Mazatlán is favorable for the restaurant sector with the arrival of national and foreign tourists, sales have increased by up to 80 percent in food establishments, mainly in tourist areas.
