Mazatlán prepares to shine in the 2021 Merida Tourism Expo

Mazatlan will show the culture, history, gastronomy, and economic development of the port in the most important event in Mexico in terms of tourism.

During the Tianguis Turístico 2021 that will be held in Mérida, Yucatán, from November 16 to 19, Mazatlán will exhibit its culture, history, gastronomy, and economic development, said José Ángel Tostado Quevedo, director of the Municipal Institute of Culture, Tourism and Art.

He said that part of the Mazatlan delegation is already in the host city of the event, to refine details of the installation and promotion of the “Vive Mazatlán” traveling dome.

He said that Mazatlán will take advantage of the tourist market to show once again the benefits of the port and promote its development and economic growth. 

“They talk about culture, history, tourism, economic development, fun, because everything goes hand in hand, gastronomy of course, which is a wealth that we have and a combination of this great port that we have, Mazatlán,” he said.

He said that it is working in coordination with the Ministry of Economic Development, Tourism and Fisheries, to generate an important attraction of visitors and investors to the port, as a result of the participation of this delegation in the 2021 Tourist Tianguis.

“We are going to have activities as part of Sinaloa, because we must reiterate that tourism is not only from Mazatlán, but from Sinaloa and obviously the carnival will be highlighted, we are going to give a sample of what it is, also make known the Magical Towns ”, he declared. 

In previous years, they even took advantage of the twinning with Durango, and in one edition, between both states, they developed a scale Baluarte bridge that connected with both destinations, attracting dozens of attendees to learn the meaning of one of the highest bridges. and imposing of the world.

Torres Noriega pointed out that the idea is to resume business appointments with business partners in person, engage in dialogue, shake hands after the pandemic and also achieve an increase in tourist demand, which as a result increases occupancy. 

“We hope to attract many businesses, I have a very tight schedule, with hotel associations, we bring many appointments and we expect more tourists, this has to be reflected,” said the state official. 

This will be the 45th edition of the Tianguis Turístico, remember that it has little in an itinerant modality, since the original idea began with being carried out in Acapulco, Guerrero. In 2018, Mazatlán was the headquarters of the tianguis, making the tourism sector name Mazatlán, a before and after this event.

Attendees at this expo range from independent hoteliers and hotel chains, airlines, tourism representatives from the 32 states, fairgrounds, shipping companies, event organizations, among others. 

It has around 20 thousand square meters and more than 600 exhibiting companies, among its buyers, participate, tour operators, wholesalers, travel agents, and tourist associations, incentive houses, congresses and conventions, and consolidators, adding more than 700 buyer companies of at least 5 participating countries. 

More than 40 thousand pre-established business appointments have been registered, where each state will have to sell the destination and specify a new hotel, water, a new air route, and overnight cruise ship stays. 

Ricardo Velarde Cárdenas, stressed that they will seek to expand airlines and connectivity, which is one of the main challenges they face, in addition to promoting investment and regional tourist circuits.

In addition to the promotion of investment, promoting the growth that the destination has, not only in tourism but also in the economic growth that it is having with the issue of USMCA and Aerospace and the development in the construction of hotels and condominiums and residential complexes.

Velarde Cárdenas indicated promoting all the facilities that are in the municipality for all investors, in order to make the links to continue promoting this tourist destination.

“Right now we have appointments with investors who are interested, with airlines that are interested, with businessmen and with secretaries of tourism from different states, I believe that Mazatlán right now has a very important promotion and growth issue that is being an example at the national level So right now we are selecting the different actors with whom we are going to sit down and without a doubt we want you to have clear results“he said.

He added that there is a list of investors interested in Mazatlán, in addition to the airlines with the highest frequency of flights.

Asked if the Riviera Mazatlán project will be revived, Velarde Cárdenas stressed that one of the projects he brings is to highlight what tourist circuits are, such as the Habal-La Noria project, which is the Quelite project and the El Proyecto del Recodo, in addition to the Picachos Dam as a tourist theme.

The head of Sedectur commented that there is coordination with the different southern municipalities to continue working with the issue of the Riviera Mazatlán since he considered it essential to generate joint promotion campaigns since there are other destinations that this strategy is working for them.

He said that it is necessary to strengthen the issue of services to be able to go out to promote not only the national market but also abroad, since much of this that comes, does it for more days and there this area of ​​opportunity can be generated, where the destination is seen beyond one of sun and beach but also a cultural destination, of mountains and with strength in the rural area.
