The summer vacation period fell short of expectations; July had an average of 63% and August could end with 52%

Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- Hundreds of national tourists have begun to arrive in Mazatlán to enjoy the last weekend of the summer vacation period.

The president of the Tres Islas Hotels Association, José Ramón Manguart Sánchez, revealed that the weekend will have an occupancy of 56%.

In a partial balance, he commented that Mazatlán in general terms had a good summer if one takes into account that Sinaloa was in red at the epidemiological traffic light.

” The season was good, we could be in the first places at the national level and it is expected that with the change in color to yellow, there will be an influx of tourists on weekends since people make the decision to travel based on the stoplight, “he said.

He commented that contrary to the forecast, August was very quiet, even the previous weekend the number of occupied rooms in the establishments on Del Mar Avenue barely reached 54%.

Manguart Sánchez pointed out that in July the Mazatlán hotel industry registered an average occupancy in July of 63% and August could end with 52%.

He estimated that if infections continue to decline, occupancy levels from September to December could fluctuate by 58% on weekends, while from Monday to Thursday they would remain at 40%.

Since this Thursday, the places with the greatest tourist influx began to register a greater activity, even dozens of tourists arrived aboard charter trucks.
