National Guard rescues 120 parrots on the Mazatlán-Culiacán highway


During a routine inspection, National Guard agents on a patrol tour located a vehicle that was transporting 120 parrots in overcrowded conditions, birds considered as endangered species.

The vehicle was stopped on a road near the municipality of San Ignacio, Sinaloa.

The National Guard officer noticed that a van was transporting cages with specimens of wildlife that were destined for the city of Durango, allegedly for sales, it was reported through social networks.

The events took place at kilometer 047 + 400 of the Mazatlán-Culiacán highway after the driver of the van in which the animals were transferred, was placed under arrest, as the transportation of illegal endangered animals is an infraction to the Federal Highway Traffic and Bridges Regulations.

These animals were placed at the disposal of the Attorney General of the Republic based in Mazatlán, Sinaloa and it will be the authority who will be in charge of delivering it to the corresponding environmental authorities.
