The law of the legitimate defense in the reform of the Penal Code was approved, which will allow that in the event of the intrusion of some intruder to the dwelling (thief, criminal, or not) that threatens the physical integrity or patrimonial property, the resident may defend himself Without being criminally prosecuted.
The proposal was voted unanimously and will allow that in the case of some assault or robbery with violence, the victim will be able to hit, injure, even kill the offender and be protected by the Law.
The deputy, Libya Dennise García Muñoz Ledo, member of the commission, said that according to the approval, whoever is at home can repel the aggression.
“When an intruder arrives in a house, whoever is in the house can repel that aggression, in any way under any circumstances and using the mechanisms or elements at hand and in no way can be criminally charged.”
García Muñoz Ledo clarified that the approved initiative only guarantees the legitimate defense in homes and not in businesses or cars owned by the victim, although it is expected that in the future it can be applied to businesses and vehicles.
“The figure applies only to homes where we live but includes everything in around, that is our patio, our garden, roof, fences, everything that is the context of the house,” he said.

Those policemen who enter the homes taking advantage of the uniform and commit an abuse of authority and stalks homes to steal are not exempt from the Law.
“The great advantage of this reform is that when they enter your home for the purpose of assaulting you, any defense mechanism can be used, even if it is an alleged police officer who enters to steal or assault you.”
