Baja California Sur is the entity with the best level of wages. The capital of the country, meanwhile, is among the five entities with the worst quality of jobs.
Baja California Sur, Nayarit, Michoacán, Sinaloa, and Coahuila are the five entities with the best jobs. In those western and northern states of the country, there is a higher percentage of well-paid formal jobs.
The above according to the #MejoresEmpleos list of the Employers’ Confederation of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex). To prepare it, the business body was based on the results of the National Survey of Occupation and Employment (ENOE) of the second quarter of 2019.
The classification measures the percentage of jobs with sufficient salaries to cover the family welfare line. That is the jobs in which they pay at least twice the value of the basic food and non-food basket: 3,972.96 pesos.
Nationally, from April to June of 2019, the salary of 52.8% of the jobs was enough to acquire two basic baskets. Between January and March, the percentage was slightly higher, at 52.9 percent.
With #MejoresEmpleos you can identify the most lagging entities in terms of working conditions, says Coparmex in the study. In that way, he adds, it will be possible to “promote targeted actions that help improve the well-being of the population and reduce inequality”.
