The most polluted beach is Sayulita, in the Bay of Banderas, Nayarit.

The Federal Commission for the Protection of Sanitary Risks (Cofepris), the Ministry of Health (SSA) and the Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat) revealed the list of the 10 most polluted beaches in Mexico and which are the ones with the most stool waste in its waters.
The study, which was prepared in the days prior to the current holiday period, revealed that pollution levels are “acceptable” in 267 beaches of the 268 located in 65 tourist centers, in 17 states of the Republic, according to international standards.
According to the report, the “unt” beach for recreational use was that of Sayulita, located in Bahía de Banderas, on the Nayarit coast, followed by the Suave and Hornos beaches in Acapulco, Guerrero; Puerto Angelito Beach and the main beach of Puerto Escondido, in Oaxaca, as well as Playa Antón Lizardo, in Veracruz.
The Sayulita beach is under permanent sanitary surveillance by Cofepris, in order to improve water quality, reported the Noticieros Televisa site.
The dirtiest beaches according to the specialists are Gulf of Santa Clara Machorro and Santa Clara Palapa Town, in San Luis Colorado, Sonora; Santiago Beach in Manzanillo, Colima; and the North and Center beaches in Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo.
