Since he took over the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur), Miguel Torruco Marqués,made it clear that the priority of the new government of Mexico is to shore up the capture of foreign currency in the so-called ‘industry without chimneys’, and as part of it, raise average spending per foreign visitor. “The tourist potential of a country is not measured by the number of tourists received, but by the foreign currency captured, especially the per capita expenditure,” said the official.

The 61 percent of the vacationers of the country belonging to the continent of Oceania choose to stay in hotels of categories between 4 and 5 stars.
Passers from the ‘country of the Pampa’, are the only Latin Americans who have the greatest economic benefit per tourist left in the country. With an average cost per visitor of 1,177 dollars, Argentines stay 11 nights on average in hotels and their most popular destinations for vacation are the Mayan Riviera and Mexico City and 6 out of 10 of them seek accommodation in hotels luxury.
The German visitors are ranked fifth in the markets with the highest economic flow per visitor to the country. The Germans who arrive at ‘Aztec land’ spend on average $ 21 thousand and their favorite destinations are the Riviera Maya and the capital of the country .
In addition, Teutonic vacationers lead the way in terms of stay, since they tend to stay in the country for 16 nights, even 63 percent of them prefer to stay in 5-star hotels.
