The port city of Mazatlán has officially solidified its status as one of Mexico’s premier beach destinations, welcoming more than 2.6 million visitors during the first seven months of 2026. According to the latest reports released by the Ministry of Tourism of Sinaloa, the influx of domestic and international travelers has driven strong economic growth across the region.
Throughout this period, the destination maintained an average hotel occupancy rate of 75 percent, reflecting steady demand across both peak holiday seasons and regular weekends. This continuous flow of visitors generated a massive economic impact, resulting in a financial windfall exceeding 18.5 billion pesos. Local commerce, the hospitality sector, restaurants, and transportation services have all seen direct benefits from the booming tourism activity.
State tourism officials emphasized that Mazatlán’s success stems from its unique combination of coastal beauty, world-class gastronomy, vibrant cultural offerings, and warm hospitality. Furthermore, the port’s strong performance serves as the primary engine for the broader state tourism sector, which collectively drew over 3.15 million visitors and generated upwards of 20.2 billion pesos statewide between January and July.
Authorities have pledged to continue investing in regional infrastructure, expanding domestic and international flight connectivity, and boosting promotional campaigns. These ongoing efforts are designed to sustain high performance levels through the remainder of the year and ensure that the tourism sector continues to drive job creation and community welfare throughout Sinaloa.
