Graciela Domínguez, interim governor of Sinaloa, reiterated that there will be celebrations for the Cry of Independence this year, after the National Independence celebrations were suspended for two consecutive years due to the security crisis in the state.
September 15 celebrations return to Sinaloa after 2 years
In mid-August, then-interim governor Yeraldine Bonilla announced that after two years of absence, the National Independence celebrations would return to Sinaloa in 2026. “We have to be ready, we invite you to the Cry of Independence, now in September, it is going to be very Mexican. In due time I will give you more news, but I can tell you in advance that there will indeed be an Independence celebration,” she said.
Although Bonilla left office following the brief return of Rubén Rocha Moya to the governorship, the plans to celebrate September 15 remain in place, and Graciela Domínguez reiterated that there will indeed be celebrations this year.
Yesterday, Wednesday, September 9, the Government of Sinaloa issued a statement extending an invitation to celebrate Mexico’s Independence on September 15.
“It is about joining efforts, so that we can reclaim our streets and our public events, for healthy community gatherings, such as the national holidays (…) The competent authorities have done a good job, and we believe that the conditions are in place for Culiacán and all of Sinaloa to hold their national holiday celebrations,” the interim governor stated.
What time and where will the National Independence celebrations be held in Sinaloa?
So far, the Government of Sinaloa has not announced the lineup of artists who will participate in the Cry of Independence celebrations, although official social media accounts have already shared a video announcing the event “to enjoy a night of tradition, music, and joy with the family.”
The National Independence celebrations will take place next September 15, at the Government Palace Esplanade in Culiacán. Activities will begin at 6:00 p.m., and admission will be free.
