The governor of the state coordinated the meeting to define the strategy to be followed to help the population
To address the emergency left by the hurricane “Willa”, the strategy to follow is the repair of the damage suffered to the electrical infrastructure and to bring food to the population of the coast that is isolated, as access by road to Teacapán is interrupted by the demolition of electric power poles.
Governor Quirino Ordaz Coppel presided over an evaluation meeting together with the commander of the Third Military Region, General of Division, André Georges Foullón Van Lissum; the general director of Civil Protection of the Ministry of the Interior, Eduardo de la Cruz Musalem, and other federal and state officials, to define the strategy to be followed to help the population.
Ordaz Coppel stressed that the most pressing is to bring food to the population that is isolated, which are the towns of Cristo Rey, Isla del Bosque, and Teacapán, and for this it was agreed to surround the estuary of Agua Grande and in boats to carry the first 3 thousand 660 larders with which it is counted, in a route of 40 kilometers approximately.
The estimate of the Federal Electricity Commission is that the road can be opened in the afternoon or evening, once the dozens of power lines that knocked down the hurricane are removed, and that they interrupt vehicular traffic in both directions on the road to Teacapán.
The meeting took place in the Conalep, facilities that together with the Cobaes, were qualified as hostels, where up to now 925 people remain in the first, and 125 more in the second building. It should be noted that these families since yesterday are served with food and will continue to receive food, dinner, and breakfast on Thursday, at least, while they return to their homes.
The call made to the population by General André Georges Foullón Van Lissum is to keep them in a safe place, in their homes of preference or in hostels, because the rivers and streams are grown and drag fallen trees, stones, and other objects.
In turn, the municipal president of Escuinapa, Hugo Enrique Moreno Guzmán, reported that he will request the collaboration of the different cooperative societies to transship the pantries through the estuary of Agua Grande, to reach the isolated communities.
It should be noted that the exact number of affected population will be known in the next few hours until the communication routes are reestablished, but a very preliminary estimate is that it exceeds 20 thousand people, informed the mayor of Escuinapa.
The commander of the Ninth Military Zone, Brigadier General, Ernesto Alejandro Vadillo Trueba, was also present at the meeting; the Secretary of Public Security, General Fermín Hernández Montealegre; the Secretary of Health, Efrén Encinas Torres; the Secretary of Public Works, Osbaldo López Angulo; the Secretary of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Sergio Torres Félix; the Secretary of Public Education and Culture, Juan Alfonso Mejía López; the delegate of the Segob and coordinator of federal delegates, Víctor Manuel Gandarilla Carrasco; the state commissioner for Sanitary Risk Prevention, Jorge Alán Urbina Vidales, and the Federal Police and Armed Navy of Mexico.
