The Mazatlán Government’s LGBTIQA+ Population Support Office reports that, during the current municipal administration, no complaints or formal reports have been filed regarding alleged acts of discrimination by public servants against members of this community.
The office’s head, Israel Tavera Posadas, believes the lack of complaints reflects a higher level of awareness among officials regarding the treatment they should provide to the public.
“No, during this administration, we have not been made aware of any complaints or formal reports filed with the Internal Control Body or the State Human Rights Commission regarding acts of discrimination committed by public servants.”
As part of efforts to strengthen inclusive service, a “Decalogue of Inclusive Service for the LGBTIQA+ Population” was presented this Tuesday. Aimed at City Hall secretaries, directors, and staff, the initiative seeks to promote respectful, non-discriminatory, and inclusive service for this segment of the population.
“It focuses on raising awareness among all public servants so that interactions remain respectful at all times,” he noted.
However, the event saw low attendance; although the invitation was addressed to City Hall secretaries and directors and scheduled for 10:00 a.m., only eight public servants had arrived twenty minutes later. None were heads of departments or agencies; all were attending as representatives of their respective areas and departments.
