As a result of intelligence work and interstate coordination, the Sonora State Attorney General’s Office (FGJES), through the Criminal Investigation Agency (AMIC), arrested a man accused of fraud in Sonora, whom they considered a “priority target.”
In a statement released on the Sonora Attorney General’s Office website on Saturday, May 9, 2026, it was announced that the man arrested is Luis Enrique “N,” 48 years old, considered a priority target due to his alleged involvement in several cases of generic fraud in Sonora.
The arrest warrant was executed on May 7, at approximately 1:00 p.m., in the Marina subdivision, in the northern part of Mazatlán, through a joint operation between AMIC Sonora agents and personnel from the Investigative Police (PDI) of the Sinaloa State Attorney General’s Office (FGES).
During the operation, AMIC personnel located the suspect in a BMW X5. At the time of the intervention, the individual identified himself using a driver’s license with a different identity, presumably in an attempt to evade justice.
The investigation establishes that the detainee is linked to at least 46 open investigations for various crimes, including threats, generic fraud, dispossession, and fraud involving false statements.
Therefore, the accused was wanted by a judge in a criminal case for the crime of generic fraud, for which he was formally charged by the Public Prosecutor’s Office. The decision regarding whether he will be bound over for trial will be made later, after the accused and his defense request an extension of the constitutional deadline.
What happened after Luis Enrique N’s arrest in Mazatlán?
Following his arrest, federal authorities transferred Luis Enrique “N” to the city of Hermosillo, Sonora, where he was incarcerated in a Social Reintegration Center (CERESO) at the disposal of the corresponding judicial authority. The Sonora State Attorney General’s Office reaffirms its commitment to combating criminal conduct that affects the assets and legal security of Sonora families.
