The Sinaloa Public Security Secretariat reported on Sunday the discovery of four men who had been kidnapped in the municipality of Mazatlán.
According to a press release, the four men were lured with a false job offer and were found after a joint operation involving all three levels of government.
The incident occurred while military personnel were conducting reconnaissance patrols in the town of San Marcos when they were alerted by other security forces about individuals being held captive.
After receiving the report, Mexican Army agents coordinated with agents from the Sinaloa Attorney General’s Office; together they established a security perimeter to locate the victims.
After the four men were found, they told authorities that they had been deceived with a false job offer and were subsequently abducted by a criminal group.
The men, whose ages and places of origin were not disclosed by authorities, were turned over to the Attorney General’s Office for further investigation.
So far, it has not been revealed whether the incident is related to any specific criminal group that operates using this modus operandi, nor have any arrests been confirmed.
