When the government and the private sector work together, development and, of course, security are improved, and it is essential to work collaboratively on these issues, stated Mayor Estrella Palacios Domínguez.
Following the presentation of the donation by Grupo ARHE to the Mexican Navy, which includes tactical equipment and a plot of land, the mayor highlighted the benefits of the “Tourist Oasis” pilot program. This program, which will be implemented with the donated equipment, will initially serve the area from Valentinos to Cerritos and will be further divided into four zones.
“We are very grateful for the donation of the land, the vessel, the tactical equipment, and this plan that we intend to implement soon. As mentioned here, this will be a pilot program to cover the area from Valentinos to Cerritos. This is a great joint effort, and we are very grateful to the Mexican Navy for the opportunity to establish a stronger presence here and have better equipment to serve the community.”
The mayor of Mazatlán said that the Tourist Oasis is a plan specifically designed for the destination, and depending on its results, it could be expanded to other areas of the city.
“It could be replicated in other areas of our municipality. It’s always good to continue strengthening security among the three levels of government, to continue with coordination, and this reflects what is being done together with business owners and also with the government at all three levels, who are willing to work as a team for Mazatlán.”
What will the Tourist Oasis consist of?
According to the presentation, it involves a group of naval police officers who were trained a month ago. They have already received training to improve the inter-institutional coordination that already exists among all government agencies and security forces that operate in the municipality every day.
When will this pilot program begin?
The mayor of Mazatlán said that, once the tactical equipment is received, the issue will be analyzed at the Peacebuilding Roundtable, so that it can begin operating.
