The Mazatlán sky is beginning to fill with foreign accents. Seasonal flights from Canada resumed this October, and flights from the United States will be added in the coming weeks, marking the official start of the winter season, which attracts thousands of tourists to the port each year.

Edna Gutiérrez, Director of Promotion and Marketing for the Mazatlán Association of Hotels and Tourism Companies (AHyETM), reported that the expectation for this season is to exceed the 92% occupancy recorded last year and reach 95% in the cabin, thanks to market confidence and intensified promotional strategies.

“Some flights begin in early October, others in late November or December, but the true high season begins in the last weeks of the year and in January, just when winter is at its peak. That’s when most international tourists arrive in Mazatlán,” she explained.

Canadian airlines WestJet and Sunwing will operate routes from Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Kelowna, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Regina, Toronto, and Montreal.

In the United States, in addition to regular year-round flights from Los Angeles, Phoenix, and Dallas, Delta Airlines is joining the route with a new route from Minneapolis, scheduled to launch in January.

Last year, cabin occupancy closed at a solid 92%, a figure that included the summer flight from Houston, which was maintained year-round for the first time.

“We are very optimistic about reaching 95% this season because promotional campaigns have been strengthened in both Canada and the United States. Mazatlán continues to establish itself as a preferred destination to escape the cold,” Gutiérrez emphasized.

The winter flight season from North America runs from October to April, consolidating Mazatlán as a strategic destination that combines sun, sand, culture, and hospitality, with a special appeal for those seeking warmth in the middle of winter.
