Mazatlán is seeing encouraging signs for the end of 2025, with an earlier arrival of foreign tourists, which points to a favorable fall for the tourism sector, José Gámez Valle stated.
The board member of the Mazatlán Association of Hotels and Tourism Companies emphasized that the first flights from Canada will arrive at the port in October, when they traditionally arrive in November.
He stated that an early trend is evident, which represents a positive boost for the low season, which currently registers an average hotel occupancy of 60 percent.
“We are hopeful that things will be fine. We refer to the previous fall-winter season in terms of air travel. What saved the destination were the flights, the people who arrived by plane, despite the restrictions. ‘Warning,’ people are coming,” he said.
He mentioned that Mazatlán remains an attractive destination, even outside of the traditional tourist peaks.
The sales director of the Pueblo Bonito group added that international flights will peak starting December 20, allowing the year to close with a strengthened high season and a positive economic impact for the sector.
“We have connections to the United States year-round. The direct market is Phoenix with American Airlines, which flies daily. Houston and San Francisco are also added, and Canada has become a much more important market, having doubled its market size in the last five years compared to the United States,” he noted.
