After a series of protests and demonstrations, the so-called Mazatlán “lighthouse” will be inaugurated this Saturday.

The zip line, which will be one of the longest in the region, extends 1,265 meters and reaches a height of up to 160 meters above sea level.

It was from April to October of this year when citizen groups have constantly demonstrated against the installation of the zip line on the Crestón hill.

Environmentalists pointed out that with the installation of the zip line, now “lighthouse”, irreversible damage was caused to the hill where the Lighthouse is located, not only due to environmental issues or deforestation, but also to the structure of the islet, which could cause the hill to collapse.

People who are against the construction of a private project in a public space with biocultural value, is because they consider that there was corruption in the concession of a part of the Lighthouse and the lack of permits for its construction.

After several months of testing and certification, the “farolesa” begins operations this weekend with a tour that will begin at the Mazatlán Lighthouse and end at the Mazatlán 1873 Observatory.

This controversial tourist attraction promises to become one of the major points of interest in the port, as it will offer an aerial adventure that has already generated great expectations among visitors and residents of the port.

The official opening will be at 10 a.m. in front of the esplanade of the iconic Mazatlán 1873 Observatory, which will mark the beginning of a new way of enjoying this tourist destination.

According to the official website, the opening prices and special promotions have already been defined so that everyone can experience this exciting adventure between the sky and the sea.
