Mazatlán is OMA’s fastest growing beach destination, up 18% this year

This Tuesday, the first ordinary session of the Advisory Commission of the Mazatlán International Airport “Rafael Buelna” was held, in which it was announced that this air terminal of the OMA Group is the one that registers the greatest growth in passenger flow in the last three years, with an accumulated figure so far this year that represents 18 percent more than what was carried out in 2023.

This was highlighted by the head of the Sinaloa Tourism Secretariat, Ricardo Velarde Cárdenas, who, after participating in said meeting, highlighted that Mazatlán is consolidated as the OMA beach destination with the greatest growth in passenger flow.

“As you know, 2023 was our year of historical influx in the port of Mazatlán, and this 2024 in the first 10 months, shows us a growth of 18 percent, and not just that. Mazatlán is consolidated as the sun and beach destination with the highest percentage of occupancy and above all, growth.”

Ricardo Velarde also highlighted that the new flights from Toronto, Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver, Canada, and from Minneapolis, United States, which are reported with a cabin occupancy of over 90 percent, which is excellent news for Mazatlán, since it speaks of the confidence that continues to exist in the destination.

He recalled that these are added to those already in place to and from Los Angeles, Houston and Phoenix, among other routes.

In the case of domestic flights, and others that change days, the head of the Sectur Sinaloa said that, in the case of the flight to El Bajío with Volaris, starting this month it will be on Fridays and Mondays, when previously it was on Saturdays and Mondays, which is an opportunity for users to take advantage of the weekend at the port.

The meeting of the Airport Advisory Commission was attended by the director of OMA Mazatlán, Eduardo Galindo Gómez; the head of Sedectur, Celia Jáuregui Ibarra, as well as representatives of the hotel associations and business chambers of Mazatlán.
