Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum asked U.S. President Joe Biden to provide all information regarding the arrest earlier this year of legendary drug kingpin Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada, according to a report from broadcaster N+ published on Tuesday, November 19th.

The N+ report said the request was made during a meeting between the two leaders on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro.

“I proposed this, which is an issue that has been difficult in our relations, asking him for all possible information so that we can also evaluate it,” Sheinbaum told N+, referring to her meeting with the outgoing U.S. president on Monday.

She added that Biden appeared receptive to the request.

Zambada was the decades-long leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, one of Mexico’s most powerful criminal organizations, along with his former partner, Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, who was extradited to the United States in 2017 and later convicted and jailed.

Last July, Zambada was arrested along with Joaquin Guzman Lopez, a son of his former partner, after landing at a small airport near El Paso, Texas, in an operation that at the time was hailed as a major crime-fighting coup for U.S. authorities.
