A new abuse and excessive use of force by municipal police officers in Mazatlán was documented on social media, in which elements of this corporation were shown kicking and hitting a young man who was detained before putting him in patrol car 307, so Mayor Edgar González Zatarain said that those responsible have already been identified.
This new incident took place in the Ramón F. Iturbe neighborhood, just 10 days after 52 municipal police officers raided a chicken business in the Lomas de Ébano neighborhood, where they seized 20 thousand pesos, cell phones, and beat the workers, including women.
Regarding the new incident, the mayor of the port said that it was through a video that a family from the Ramón F. Iturbe neighborhood recorded that the three police officers from patrol car 307 who committed abuses against a detainee were identified.
He announced that he instructed that a drastic sanction be applied to the elements that incurred in abusing and beating a detainee and shining lights at civilians to prevent them from being recorded, as happened.
In this case, with the evidence that is available, the three agents cannot deny their intervention in this act in which it is observed that they kicked a detainee and then hit him with a baton to force him to get into the patrol car, perfectly identifiable.
Regarding the case of the chicken business, where a chicken delivery man and his partner who came to his defense were arrested, they had to pay a fine imposed by the judge on the railing, the Internal Affairs area of the Secretariat of Public Security has an open investigation.
