Although the “pilot test” was a failure and there is no guarantee that it will work now, the preferential lane will be put into operation again in its first stage on the Ejército Mexicano avenue, from Insurgentes to Gutiérrez Nájera.

Mayor Édgar González Zataráin himself was the one who recognized that there is no certainty that this project, which aims to improve travel times in urban transport, will work, but that the difference now is that there are better conditions for its functionality, such as assigning a traffic patrol exclusively for this lane.

He also said that they have already gotten rid of all the injunctions that the merchants of the area filed for leaving them without parking on the public road.

“There is no guarantee, the thing is that there are better conditions, there were a lot of injunctions, we have already cleared it (…) we have new traffic equipment to permanently assign a surveillance that is exclusive to the preferential,” he said.

The first mayor added that on Monday night they began with the painting and delimitation of the lane, and later they will begin to place the confits.

He added that a half moon will be made in front of the “Seguro Nuevo” so that patients from that hospital can get on and off.

Investment

Regarding the investment in a project that has no guarantee to work, he said that the Municipality provides the paint and the equipment for the application of paint on the curbs, while the Urban Truck Alliance was the one that made the investment for the purchase of the confits.

Vehicles removed

González Zataráin expects that the preferential lane will be fully operational within a week, but the Traffic Police already have the authority to remove vehicles that are parked on the street and inform merchants of the reactivation.
