MAZATLÁN.- 70 cases of dengue have been registered in Sinaloa so far in 2024, and Mazatlán is the municipality with the most cases, according to the Secretary of Health of Sinaloa, Cuitláhuac González Galindo, the port concentrates 50 percent of these cases.
He announced that although Sinaloa was one of the states with the greatest containment of transmission at the national level, an increase in cases is being registered, similar to that of 2023, which was 300 percent.
Given the number of cases registered, when it is known that it is in spring or summer when the contagion is triggered, they opted to start with the campaign to eliminate the mosquito of dengue from this date.
“At the national level, while the states were rising in that 300 percent, Sinaloa was falling by 70 percent, we were having a good containment.
“However, we know that the arrival of a new serotype of dengue is at the door, it is presenting itself and more and more cases are being presented.”
He explained that the 35 cases that have been presented in Mazatlán, some belong to serotype 3 that, although it is similar to a normal dengue, they are working on the alert and prevention with the citizenship.
“The idea is to contain so as not to fall into the national incidence. In Mazatlán there are 35 cases, these are alternate, some of serotype 1 and others of serotype 3” he said.

Red spots in neighborhoods
The state official pointed out that there are three neighborhoods in Mazatlán in red spots: Montuosa, Prados del Sol and Gabriel Leyva. The cases are registered mainly in adolescents and adults, but the population is asked not to create the conditions for the proliferation of mosquitoes.

The kick-off of the State Campaign for the Elimination of Mosquito Breeding Sites “Sinaloa united against dengue” took place on the esplanade of the Republic Square, from where various trucks with special spraying and dump trucks started work for the decacharrization.
