The Carnival of Mazatlán broke attendance records and was rated positively, municipal authorities reported
MAZATLÁN. – The International Carnival of Mazatlán ended and in addition to breaking attendance records, the municipal authorities classified it as positive, what is it about? Here are the results.
Mayor Édgar González Zataráin mentioned that the positive balance is classified according to the information between municipal, state, federal, Navy, Army and National Guard authorities, reporting a decrease in fights, confrontations and problems.
“Without major problems, even the confrontations or strong fights that used to happen today in this Carnival and in the previous one did not happen, they were very small cases that were quickly controlled,” he said.
Although, throughout the Carnival its events take place in different parts of the City, it was Paseo Olas Altas the main meeting point of the port’s maximum party, with an attendance of at least 12 thousand more people than in the Carnival of 2023.
According to the same authorities, in the 2023 edition of the Carnival, about 903,856 people attended the different events, with an economic spill of close to 900 million pesos. This year they estimate a spill of approximately 1,200 million pesos.
Sanctions for renting chairs, selling without permission and others
The authorities reported that, in terms of permits and sanctions, 1,855 chairs were retained between Sunday and Tuesday for renting them to tourists and locals, sanctioning about 136 people, as well as the suspension of a platform.
In addition, they issued about 200 fines to street vendors for not having a permit, since, according to the Official Mayor, Rogelio Olivas Osuna, only about 315 permits were granted to vendors and 353 to musicians, among locals and foreigners.
Carnival left about 2,668 tons of garbage
During the days of the Carnival, the Public Services Directorate reported that they removed around 2,668 tons of garbage in the cleaning operation that they implemented in the areas where the Carnival took place.
Karla Camacho Guzmán, director of Public Services, reported that compared to 2023, garbage collection increased by 31 percent, that is, 643 tons of garbage more than in the previous edition, when 2,025 tons of garbage were counted.
