MAZATLÁN.- The Ministry of Public Security and Municipal Transit, SSPyTM is the instance that has the most complaints against its elements, as announced by Fermín Núñez Millán, regional manager of the State Human Rights Commission in the South Zone.

So far this year, more than 60 complaints have been registered against elements of the SSPyTM for arbitrary arrests and mistreatment, being the corporation with the most complaints so far.

“There are accusations against authorities of Public Security institutions in the southern part of the state, these mainly have to do with complaints against municipal police officers.”

Núñez Millán reported that they are working on 40 open files, which are already being followed up.

He shared that the Public Security agency is not the only one with complaints, this is followed by the State Attorney General’s Office for deficiencies and lack of results in the investigations.

There will be training

In order to reduce these complaints, the CEDH in the South Zone has been carrying out training with officials from the Mazatlán city council on respect for human rights.

The course was promoted by the Internal Control Body of the Mazatlán City Council, but officials and workers from different municipal departments such as Ecology, Beach Operator, Public Security, Social Communication and INDEM have been attending it.

With these courses, the CEDH seeks to provide a general overview of human rights, which facilitates their understanding and highlights their importance in different areas of daily life, as well as generating a change in the administrative processes of the different dependencies.
