MAZATLAN. – What a good wave! The Tourist Care and Protection Center reported during the first quarter of the year 417,185 passengers have arrived in Mazatlan by air.

The information from the airport terminal indicates that, from January to March 2023, the increase in this item represented 14.4 percent more people than in the same period of 2022.

Only in the month of March, the arrival of 143 thousand 24 passengers means an increase of 4.1 percent compared to March 2022.

The authorities announced that during the first quarter of this year there were a total of 273,371 passengers, who have come from domestic flights, while 143,814 arrived on international flights at the Rafael Buelna Airport in Mazatlán.

Canadian tourism grows

The Canadian consulate in Mazatlán and the municipal government strengthened ties to be close to the Canadian community, given the increase in tourism and residents from that country.

Karen Wendy Jane Hardouin, Canadian consul in Mazatlán, affirmed that the number of Canadians who come to live in the port after retiring has increased.

“We want to bring the community closer to the mayor’s office because Mazatlán is growing a lot with tourism and Canada is very important for Mazatlán,” declared Jane Hardouin.

He specified that every year, some 15,000 Canadians come to the city between the months of December and April, there is also an increase in residents, which are currently around 500 people, who buy properties in Mazatlán, after their retirement (pension). to live in the port.
