Recreational Park, this is the project that comes in place of the Plaza de la Banda

MAZATLÁN.- There will be no Plaza de la Banda, but a recreational park will be built in what it used to be the old sewage treatment plant ‘El Crestón’, as reported by the mayor Édgar Augusto González Zataráin.

According to the municipal president, what is being sought is not to waste the land and build something that goes hand in hand with what El Faro offers to locals and tourists.

With this new attraction, it is intended to match the new cruise terminal, which will have a plaza with everything necessary to provide an excellent marina service to visitors and even Mazatlecos themselves.

The project is being worked on by the municipality and is already in the hands of the Integral Port Administration (API).

González Zataráin indicated that the project is only in the development stage, so talking about dates and investments is very premature, but something they are sure of is that it will not be an investment like the one that the old administration had contemplated to carry out the Plaza de la Band, whose resource was approximately 100 million pesos.

Let’s remember that the Plaza de la Banda was a project promoted by former mayor Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres. Its construction was planned to be done at the facilities of the ‘El Crestón’ Treatment Plant.

In fact, the dismantling work had already begun, which a few months ago reported 40 percent dismantling. There was even talk of holding a concert in January next year to raise funds for its construction.
