Accident on the Mazatlán-Durango highway leaves two dead and four injured

The accident was recorded on a curve at kilometer 196 of the Superhighway, near the exit to Copala, Concordia, around 7:00 a.m. on Sunday

CONCORDIA, SINALOA._ Two people died and four were injured in the accident between a wet nurse and a truck on the Durango-Mazatlán Highway.

The fatalities were identified as Eutimio “N”, who died at the scene, and Amador “N”, who died at the IMSS clinic in Villa Unión.

The injured are Arnulfo Zepeda Miranda, 36 years old; José Daniel Gómez Hernández, 38 years old; Christian Irvin Rodríguez, 21, and José Juan Pizaña Gómez, 33.

The accident was recorded on a curve at kilometer 196 of the Superhighway, near the exit to Copala, municipality of Concordia.

The motorist invaded the lane where the tractor-trailer was traveling, which was towing three more tractor-trailers, and its operator was unable to avoid the impact of the Ford Escape SUV, since it was traveling in the opposite direction in the middle of a curve.

Capufe paramedics responded to the call and rescued the five occupants who were trapped in the SUV; two of them were transferred by ambulance to the Comprehensive Hospital in Concordia, and three more wounded to the IMSS Hospital in Villa Unión.

Minutes later it was reported that one of those transferred to Villa Unión arrived without vital signs; the other two are reported stable.

Agents of the National Guard and Capufe personnel flagged down the accident site and enabled a lane to maintain traffic intermittently.

A total closure to circulation was maintained for two hours, to allow the staff of the State Attorney General’s Office to carry out their work.
