Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- Around 1,800 players, including children and adolescents, who together with their families add up to a total of 6,500 people, are those who are in the port to participate in the Mazatlán Baseball Cup.

Since Wednesday, the contingents from several states of the Mexican Republic began to arrive, which envisions a good economic benefit for the port. The sporting event will close on Sunday.

The event brings together more than 140 baseball teams from different cities in Mexico, which will play in the Unidad Deportiva Juárez, Liga Muralla and Liga Mazatlán.

According to representatives of the tourism sector, hotel occupancy is at 70 percent thanks to this event.

The presence of small balls has been observed this day mainly on the Malecón, shopping malls, among other points in the port, which has caused demand in restaurants and rental transport to pick up.

And it is that they join the thousands of national tourists who also vacation in the port of Mazatlan during this weekend.

Tourist revival

The president of the Tres Islas Hotel Association, José Ramón Manguart Sánchez, said that sporting events contribute to the reactivation of the city’s tourist activity.

“This allows us in some way, to convene families under a sporting event that brings together many people and being in Mazatlan means that entire families come to generate a lot of economic income,” he said.
