The president of the Tres Islas Hotel Association pointed out that so far the sections have fluctuated by 40 percent.

Mazatlán, Sin.- The next two weeks will be crucial to maintain or not the hotel occupancy estimates in the port of Mazatlán during the next summer vacation period.

José Ramón Manguart Sánchez, president of the Tres Islas Hotel Association, explained that the results will depend on the impact that this fifth wave of Covid-19 may have.

He commented that when the waves of infections begin to rise, a slowdown in reservations begins to appear; right now they are around 35-40%.

“According to previous experiences, from now on, the bulk of the reservations normally begin, practically three weeks before the vacations begin, what we do or do not do at this time is going to benefit or harm us in the summer” , said.

Manguart Sánchez reiterated that with this new wave of Covid there could well be a brake on summer reservations, but that will happen as the vacations are about to start, since many people usually arrive at the last minute.

“In the summer our expectations are 75, 80% occupancy, what will it depend on? ongoing, how far can it be contained. He is very familiar with the previous waves, that when we have a peak in the contagion issue, the reservations move away, even the occupations go down, ” he said.

The hotel leader pointed out that for this reason, it is important that tourists and locals contribute to sanitary measures, and maintain a healthy distance, while in lodging centers they reinforced sanitary filters.

“We exhort all the people who visit us and the locals not to relax, but to cooperate, it is no longer a matter of authority, they already told us what to do, now there is a matter of shared responsibility, of assuming that commitment” , he concluded.
