Mazatlán, Sin.- Despite the rebound in positive cases of Covid-19 that has been registered in the port during the last week, this Thursday the arrival of regional tourists began to enjoy a few days of rest in this vacation destination.
The president of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce in Sinaloa, Miguel Hernández Fonseca, stated that the occupancy forecast in Mazatlan hotels is almost 90% from Thursday to Sunday.
” What is Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Mazatlan registers very good occupancies, for this weekend it is estimated that the hotels reach an occupancy close to 90%,” he assured.
In addition, the expectations for the summer are very high, since at the moment there are reservations of 40% and occupation of more than 80% is estimated with 100% weekends.
” We have very high expectations and we believe that for this coming summer vacation period there will be a record in the number of visitors; it is a good time to tighten the measures against Covid, so that tourists continue to arrive in Mazatlan,” he said.
According to the latest report from the Ministry of Health this week, Sinaloa reports 680 active cases of coronavirus, of which 420 are in Culiacán, 118 in Ahome, and 92 cases in Mazatlán.
He pointed out that in the last year the arrival of national tourists to Mazatlán, mainly from Mexico City, has grown significantly, for this reason, an airline will increase its frequencies to the destination starting this summer.
Road tourism
The leader of Fecanaco in Sinaloa indicated that for four years, the Mazatlán-Durango highway has brought good results with the arrival of tourism from Durango, Torreón, Chihuahua, and Nuevo León, among other states.
