Mazatlan Sinaloa. – Civil Protection (PC) has detected in Mazatlan – urban and rural areas – around 80 settlements considered to be areas of greatest risk to flooding and, given this, is ready to act if necessary during the current rainy season, Eloy declared. Ruiz Gastelum .
The PC coordinator in the municipality called on the population to be attentive to all communications from the corresponding authorities and, if it rains, not to circulate on flooded avenues because they only put their own physical integrity at risk.
“Look, we have close to 80 urban and rural settlements, which are considered to be at the greatest risk of suffering from any kind of flooding, and we have 25 road crossings in the urban area, each one of them with special and different characteristics, here the work is practically it is the awareness with the citizens”, he pointed out.
The local official reported that, with the support of the Mexican Army, a supervision and verification tour of the temporary shelters will be carried out to have them ready if necessary.
“We are doing everything corresponding and everything pertinent in preventive actions, in implementing temporary shelters in case it is necessary that they are in optimal conditions to be able to receive all those people who said to take shelter while the rainy season is in progress, and especially the close coordination with the authorities at the state and federal level”, he pointed out.
Ruiz Gastélum specified that the 80 settlements at risk of flooding are located in low-lying areas or on the margins of the locality’s natural water bodies, for which Civil Protection said it is ready for the current 2022 cyclone and hurricane season.
