The state of Sinaloa, Mazatlán in particular, are consolidated among the main beach tourist sites in the country, and proof of this is that during 2021 there was a growth of 48.8% in visitor arrivals.
Mazatlán is consolidated in the second position in hotel occupancy and tourist-night, while in the arrival of tourists it occupies the third position among beach destinations nationwide.
According to the study of the Council for the Economic Development of Sinaloa, from January to December 2021 the arrival of tourists to the state was close to 50%, with 5 million 267 thousand tourists, which is 1 million 728 thousand 503 tourists more than the past year.
Of the total number of tourists who visited Sinaloa, Mazatlan concentrated 3 million 872 thousand 371 visitors, which represents 73.5% of the total; Culiacán had 791 thousand 007, representing 15%; Los Mochis reported 373 thousand 772, which represents 7.1%; Escuinapa had 104 thousand 030, which is equivalent to 2%; El Rosario registered 73 thousand 118, which means 1.4%; while El Fuerte registered 52 thousand 913 visitors, that is, 1% of the total.
In the case of Mazatlan, from January to December 2021, compared to the same period in 2020, 1 million 357 thousand 552 more tourists arrived, which represents 54% growth, compared to 2020, the year in which the pandemic was strongest.
In terms of available rooms, Sinaloa had 15,189 daily average rooms, 346 rooms more than in the same period of 2020, which represented an increase of 2.3%.
By municipalities, Mazatlán had an increase of 190 new rooms, which meant only 2%; in El Rosario, there was an increase of 73.8%, which represents 79 rooms; in addition to 22% increased by Escuinapa, which represents 43 rooms.
Mazatlán is the municipality that concentrates the largest number of hotel rooms, with 9 thousand 889. And last year 3 million 872 thousand 371 tourists arrived at this destination, which represented 14% of the total, occupying the third place at the national level, in addition, concentrated 10 million 804 thousand 849 night tourists, 13.8% of the total, occupying the second place, on the main beaches of Mexico.
