The Mayor said that Mazatlan is determined apart and that the epidemiological traffic light is not orange, but yellow with a tendency to turn green.

Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- The fact that the state epidemiological traffic light is orange does not mean that Mazatlán is also orange, said Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres, mayor of Mazatlán, regarding the Carnival.

He said that Mazatlán is determined apart and that the epidemiological traffic light in the municipality is yellow with a tendency to turn green.

“The traffic light is from Sinaloa, it is not from Mazatlan, we determined it separately; the Mazatlan traffic light is yellow and tends towards green, today we are still going down,” he said.

He also added that the national traffic light is out of date in its update, so it does not dictate the situation for the month of February and with this argument he mentioned that he will ask Governor Rubén Rocha Moya, five more days, after the update, to evaluate the situation. and see if the maximum Mazatlan party is canceled or postponed.

“I am going to ask the governor to wait a few more days, if possible until Friday, to see the behavior of Mazatlan, I insist, not of Sinaloa. The national traffic light change is from the previous month, February is not contemplated, the Carnival begins the February 24. I think we owe each other an opportunity, the Mazatlecos owe an opportunity. Five days that we wait seems prudent to me and if there are no changes, then we will be aware that we will have to postpone or cancel, “he added.
