Jean Carlo Parolari assures that as long as the companies comply with the measures imposed by the health authorities, the ships will arrive in Mazatlan.

The tourist ships will continue to cross the Mazatlan navigation channel and their passengers will visit Mazatlan, as long as the cruise companies comply with the protocols established by the health authorities, assured the tour operator Jean Carlo Parolari.

“The ships, due to United States policies, come to 50 percent of their capacity, although they will soon increase their maximum percentage, I don’t know how much, but right now they reach 50 percent, a little below,” he said.

Of that 50 percent, at least between 60 and 70 percent go down to tour the port, with an average cost of $75 per person, which has been maintained despite the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.

The tourist businessman commented that so far, and despite the fact that the Omicron variant of the coronavirus is more contagious than the previous ones, no cruise passenger has been detected who has come down with the infection from any of the ships that have arrived since the activity resumed.

“We as a destination and the shipping companies themselves are super strict, so, in case of detecting an infected passenger, they isolate themselves immediately, and we too, as tour operators, have the protocols and all the training to isolate the person, take them either to a health center, to a hospital, and even back to the ship, if someone with symptoms is detected,” he said.

The cruise industry was one of the hardest hit by the health pandemic, because while some activities resumed four months after it was decreed, tourist ships had to wait 17 months, from March 2020 to August 2021, to resume. its services.
