Mazatlan public bikes system reaches 100 thousand trips

MAZATLAN.- The public bicycle system “Muevete Chilo Sinaloa” consolidates its success in Mazatlan and adds 100 thousand trips since it began operations in February this year, during which more than 28 thousand users traveled 158 thousand 039,742 kilometers and avoided the emission of 26 tons of polluting gases to the environment.

Carlos Gandarilla García, Secretary of Sustainable Development, said that the vision of Governor Quirino Ordaz Coppel is to put the state at the forefront of sustainable mobility by offering an efficient, healthy, ecological and low-cost transportation option.

He noted that Mazatlan is the first city in northern Mexico and the seventh in the country to have a public bicycle system; In the port the service is operated by means of a permit authorized by the State Government and has 107 bicycles in two polygons with 17 stations through a state-of-the-art system, without anchorage, which does not require large facilities and that have GPS .

The Secretary of Sustainable Development said that in Culiacán and Los Mochis the project is in the final phase of the studies to define the location of the cycle ports and works in coordination with the municipal authorities to guarantee the success of the program and the safety of the users
