The director of the Association of Hotels and Tourism Companies admitted that there is uncertainty in the sector due to Ómicron, the new variant of Covid-19, but that so far there are no cancellations.

Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- By the end of the year, the Mazatlán hotel industry will have an occupancy of 80%, the maximum capacity allowed in this pandemic, revealed Julio Birrueta.

The director of the Association of Hotels and Tourist Companies of Mazatlán explained that from December 26 to 30, reservations registered levels of 76%.

Mazatlán will have a good closure in tourism, we will be at 100% of the maximum allowed capacity of national and foreign tourism.

Birrueta commented that although more international airlines continue to join this winter season, more connectivity is required, however, they hope that national tourism will continue to support the destination.

The hotel manager acknowledged that with Ómicron, the new variant of Covid-19, there is uncertainty and caution, mainly from foreign tourism in traveling to Mazatlán, but that so far there are no cancellations.

“We will see how much it affects until now there are no cancellations, but there is caution, we will evaluate in a few more days to see what it may affect, but right now it is a little early, everything will depend on how people take it”, express.

Meanwhile, he assured that accommodation establishments maintain health protocols, however, extra vigilance may be required around the new variant of Covid-19.
