David Osuna Lizárraga, municipal trustee of the town, explained that what is being avoided here is the indiscriminate sale of beer that the commercial establishment is going to offer.

“They are demonstrating for the position of an Oxxo in the Quelite since the place where they want to install it is a place very close to the temple of the town and to the center of the heart of the Quelite,” he said.

The municipal official said he did not know if the concessionaires already have the required permits for their opening, however, every day the rumor of its inauguration is getting louder, because even the other businesses that were established where they plan to build it, are already withdrawing them.

Osuna Lizárraga acknowledged that with between 60 and 70 disagreements between locals and merchants, there are also merchants who are closing because they are close to Oxxo.

The protesters went this morning to the Municipal Presidency, in order to meet with Mayor Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres and explain their problem to him.

“It is the first that we make to the president, we bring him the request to review the case, in addition to the signatures of the inhabitants of Quelite”, however, until noon they had not had contact with the first mayor.
